South Africa, and the broader region of Africa, is next in the global marketplace of eDiscovery. Many global corporations have presence here; mining, energy and mineral industries abound; and there are numerous financial institutions feeling the weight of regulatory and compliance requirements. All of these add to the volumes and complexities of data which exists in so many forms. If you can understand your data you will understand your case.

I lived and worked through an identical situation in the UK, almost 15 years ago. Law firms and corporations need help to handle their litigation, regulatory investigation and competition matters.

As the first independent eDiscovery Consultant in South Africa I provide that help and experience. My global contacts, knowledge of the use of technology, as well as my understanding of the litigation process will raise awareness and standards in South Africa. I am proud to live and work in Cape Town sharing my knowledge and experience in the fascinating world of eDiscovery.

I have to report that it has just come to my attention that my email address – ediscovery@terryharrison.co – has been hacked. Having discussed this with my provider and taken advice I have reported the matter to the Information Regulator. Steps have been taken immediately, including the deletion of all of the emails in that domain and furthermore I have already permanently closed this domain.

You may wish to take your own action if you have any exchange of communications with this email address, by for example deleting them.

Terry will certainly be my go-to-guy when it comes to managing truckloads of documents using eDiscovery technology

The more I read about eDiscovery the more I discover how little I know about the subject. And I now know I need the App version of Terry Harrison lest I conduct a case blindfolded.
